Position Summary
The Senior PeopleSoft Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, documenting, and supporting PeopleSoft Financials application functionality that meets defined business and customer requirements. This role partners closely with functional analysts, business users, and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable, reliable, and high-performing PeopleSoft solutions.
The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in PeopleSoft Financials, strong Oracle SQL and relational database skills, and a thorough understanding of the full PeopleSoft development lifecycle. This individual will support solution design, development, testing, implementation, production issue resolution, and the ongoing maintenance of departmental development standards and system documentation.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design, develop, configure, and maintain PeopleSoft Financials application functionality in alignment with customer-defined business requirements.
- Partner with functional analysts and end users to gather, clarify, and document user requirements, business processes, technical specifications, and solution designs.
- Apply thorough knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials modules, including:
- Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Accounts Payable (AP)
- General Ledger (GL)
- Utilize working knowledge of additional PeopleSoft modules, including Asset Management (AM), Purchasing (PO), and eProcurement (ePro), as needed.
- Develop solutions using PeopleSoft development tools and technologies, including: Application Designer, PeopleCode, Integration Broker, Component Interfaces, Application Engine, Application Packages, Integration technologies, SQL, PeopleSoft Security, PS/Query, and BI Publisher
- Develop and support PeopleSoft Workflow functionality.
- Write, optimize, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries; maintain an in-depth understanding of data flow across PeopleSoft core tables.
- Design and develop efficient, scalable code capable of processing large data volumes while maintaining system performance.
- Perform performance tuning for PeopleSoft processes, SQL queries, interfaces, and custom application components.
- Create detailed functional and technical design documents based on discussions with functional analysts and end users.
- Produce clear technical documentation that enables other developers to efficiently build and support solutions, including: Process models, Data models, Data-flow diagrams, and entity-relationship diagrams
- Develop and execute unit test plans and system test plans to validate code completeness, stability, functionality, and impact on the production environment.
- Facilitate and support user acceptance testing by coordinating with business users, resolving defects, and validating expected outcomes.
- Assist with system rollouts, deployments, and post-implementation support activities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in partnership with functional analysts and other technical stakeholders.
- Maintain complete documentation for all system modifications, customizations, interfaces, and technical processes.
- Help establish, maintain, and promote departmental development standards, coding practices, and system documentation standards.
- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders while maintaining a strong customer-focused approach.
- Work independently while managing priorities, meeting deadlines, and contributing effectively within a cross-functional team environment.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of programming experience developing PeopleSoft applications and related technologies.
- 7+ years of hands-on experience with PeopleSoft Financials development, including AR, AP, and GL modules.
- 7+ years of experience working in RHEL and Windows environments.
- 5+ years of experience working with Oracle databases.
- 7+ years of experience with relational database design and development.
- Expert-level SQL skills, including query development, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
- Demonstrated experience with the PeopleSoft development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design through development, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Strong understanding of PeopleSoft core tables, data relationships, and data-flow processes.
- Experience developing technical design documentation and system-level support documentation.
- Proven ability to develop and execute unit and system test plans.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with functional analysts, end users, and technical team members.
- Demonstrated customer-centric mindset, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently.
